and along came something….again!

Wednesday, June 30th, 2004

well, i went and saw spider-man 2….again. it really is that good! i noticed a couple of cool things this time around that i didn’t before. but they were really little things like authors on text books, and names on shirts that no one should see on the first time around due to what else is going on in the scene.

next on the movie watching list is shrek 2. then, i don’t know. i need to see bourne identity before i see the sequel. i’ve read all the books, and i’ve heard alot of good things about the movie. oh, and the punisher, i heard i should at least watch it. other than that, it’s watch-em as they come.

speaking of reviews, i’ll have alot more time on my hands to read and stuff. so, it’s time to work out and read alot. might actually get those book reviews done, amazing eh? well, have fun, and God bless!

and along came something

Wednesday, June 30th, 2004

all i have to say about the new spider-man movie is…wow! to be honest, i loved the first one, thought it was the best comic book to screen translation done. and then this movie came out. it might only be 104 minutes, but there’s alot they pack in there. of cource it assumes that you’ve seen the first one, which if you haven’t, why the frell not?! but it seriously was a great movie. saw the 12:15 showing, so i’m a little out of it. and as many of you know, i’m something of a spider-man fanatic.

the casting was marvelous of cource. j.j. jameson is still one of th best casted charachters ever. the guy is just perfect! looks like him, acts like him, even has alot of the same expressions as him! the laughter, the suddeen change of moods, the wackyness, it’s all there. his assistant, hoffman, is great too. the actor that plays him, ted raimi, is one of my favorite actors as it is, so i might be a little biased. something about him being seaquest and being the geeky one…

as for the villian, i think they did a marvelous job with Doc Ock. the green goblin in the first film was great, but molina did just as good of a job with the good doctor. they really showed the multiple side of doc ock and they really got to show what peter parker was made of. the fight scenes between the two were jaw dropping as it were, then add in an above ground subway and it’s even better and more spectacular. and the falling from the buildings while still fighting right before that was fun too.

and then there’s mary jane watson. i waited for so long to hear her say “go get em tiger” that i can’t remember not waiting for it. but boy did it make me feel good to hear that. speaking of good sounds, everyone in the theater i was in boo-ed catwoman, just thought i’d throw that in there.

the only charachter i didn’t really see that i wanted to was eddie brock. spidey sooo needs to get the black suit for the next movie. so needs to. john jameson was introduced, so it’s not too far off to open the next one with his shuttle crashing on the bridge. they’ve set up a couple of other villians too, but i’ll let you find them out on your own.
so, my review of the movie. it’s a 6 out of 5 people. if you haven’t seen it yet….well, i’m just not sure what you’re waiting for at all! have fun, and God bless!

disney, pyro…all american!

Monday, June 28th, 2004

Disney Debuts New Safer, Quieter and More Environmentally Friendly Fireworks Technology is the headline over at Yahoo! Finance. being a pyrotechnitian myself, i found myself drawn to the article, and suprised that disney would even mention turning the tech specs over to a non profit. maybe the company does have a small soul again? one can hope right? at any rate, i’ve got a new pyrotechnic manuver to practive and fool around with. so, it’s all good to me. less smoke is always nice for asthmatics like my little brother too. have fun everybody, and God bless!

“A PBS mind in an MTV world” – unknown

“Death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back” -Russel Crow in Gladiator

“Experience; that most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God do you learn.” – C.S. Lewis

just some thoughts for today. i was looking out my window, thinking about how serious most people take life. and yet, the people that just put it in God’s hands are the most free of us all. working, families, money, stuff…it’s all important, but what’s more important than freedom? so i close out this message with this quote:

“It’s only after you’ve lost everything that you’re free to do anything.” Tyler Durten Fight Club

“Support bacteria. They’re the only culture some people have!” – Author Unknown

after reading some of the more liberal oriented literature out there, this is a great quote, cause it’s so true in some cases. just a thought. but don’t worry, there’s more of these random quotes to come…
