FF:Tactics A2 – is awesome!

Monday, June 30th, 2008

I picked up Final Fantasy: Tactics A2 last week (yay for pet insurance paying me back!) and I’ve been playing it quite a bit ever since. The new Bazaar system is fun (you unlock items by trading items), and the learning abilities only when items are equipped works, I guess. I liked the original Tactics and just earning JP and spending it, but I guess I’m just old school like that. I’ll give a better “review” when I have time, but for now I encourage you to go buy the game. It’s the best console game this side of Rock Band that I’ve played in years.

Update: I added an “app” of sorts that lets you sort and search through the FFTA2 items. The handiest part has been searching for items with abilities with the lowest AP to get classes quicker.

If you haven’t seen the movie about the little robot, be warned that there’s spoilers in this article.

The latest movie by Pixar is by the best Cyberpunk movie I’ve seen in a little while. It’s like a Swift take on 2001 meets The Time Machine. The colorful dystopian society that is portrayed was nothing short of amazing. I’ve seen far too many movies lately that try to be artistic, and they just come off as lame, bland, and unoriginal. While the story isn’t all that original: save humanity from the brink of killing itself outright, the way it’s told is amazing. If you can imagine a scenic portrait made by talking mime’s that with talent you might have an idea of what the visuals and feelings were like.

The movie references and subtle and amazing. Then again, so it his Mac startup chime whenever he reboots. Pay close attention to the computer part they throw around, some may even be familiar. As is the layout of some of the landmarks.

All in all a great story that’s well worth watching a few times over.

I remember back in the day installing Diablo II on my iMac 233mhz machine and it taking 3 hours to install Diablo II, and that was pre-expansion! Today, i installed it on my 2.33Ghz MacBook Pro and it took about 30 minutes.
